Frequently asked questions
Is the PDF Sign tool really free?
Yes. It’s completely free to use, with no account, no subscription, no watermark and no limit on how many documents you sign.
Are my documents uploaded to your servers?
No. Your PDF is opened and signed entirely inside your own web browser. The file and your signature are never uploaded, stored or shared — not with us and not with anyone else. When you close or refresh the page, everything is cleared.
Is this a legally binding electronic signature?
This tool places an image of your signature onto your PDF, much like signing a printed page. It is not a certified or identity-verified digital signature, and it does not create an audit trail. Whether it is accepted depends on the person or organization receiving the document and the laws where you live. If you need a verified e-signature, please use a dedicated e-signature service.
Can I sign on more than one page?
Yes. Scroll to any page, then click “Add signature” — or click a signature you’ve already created to place it again. You can add as many signatures as you need, on any page.
Can I use it on my phone or tablet?
Yes. The tool works in up-to-date browsers on iPhone, Android, iPad and computers. On touchscreens you can draw your signature with your finger or a stylus.
Will signing change anything else in my PDF?
No. Your pages, text and images stay as they are, and your signature is added on top. One exception: if the PDF already contains a certified digital signature (the kind that shows a verified badge in Adobe Acrobat), adding a new signature will make that existing certification show as invalid.
Why won’t my PDF open?
PDFs that are password-protected or locked against editing can’t be signed here — remove the protection in your PDF app and save a copy first. Damaged files, non-PDF files and files larger than the size limit shown in the upload box will also show a message explaining what to do.
This free tool adds a visual signature to your PDF. It is not a certified, identity-verified or legally guaranteed electronic signature service. Please check that a signature of this type is acceptable for your document.
